We are pleased to announce that Katherine Maher, Managing Director of the Wikimedia Foundation, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s DINAcon in Bern on October 19.
Katherine is a long-standing advocate of free and open societies and an expert in the use of technology for social impacts. She was appointed Executive Director in July 2016 after first serving as Chief Communications Officer of the organization. She has lived and worked on different continents and has promoted the introduction of technology and innovation in the fields of human rights, good governance and international development. She was a founding member of the UNICEF innovation team, where she contributed to the introduction of open source innovations for health and child welfare.
Besides Katherine Maher two other experienced Wikimedia speakers will participate: Catrin Vimercati will share her experiences from Wikipedia and Wikidata in schools and Diego Hättenschwiler will provide expert knowledge about the editing of Wikipedia pages.
