On March 20th, Parldigi, the Parliamentary Group on Digital Sustainability led by National Councillor Edith Graf-Litscher, hosted a dinner and open discussion around the topic of digitalization. More than 70 experts from the IT industry, business and politics took part in the event at the Kornhauscafé in Bern.
Among others, Prof. Dr. Fabrizio Gilardi of the Institute for Political Science of the University of Zurich and co-founder of the Digital Democracy Lab presented an analysis of the digital political presence in Switzerland. Dr. Lisa-Christina Winter, Senior User Researcher at TestingTime AG, informed about the latest developments and possibilities in the field of online micro-targeting; a particularly hot topic since the scandal surrounding the Cambridge Analytica research institute and its activities in the US election campaign.
The evening concluded with an interesting panel discussion with the two guest speakers, Nicolas Zahn from the Digitization Working Group at “Operation Libero” and Adrienne Fichter from the online magazine “Republik“, led by Dr. Matthias Stürmer from Parldigi. The large number of participants shows the growing interest in digital sustainability and open-source projects in business and politics.
Wikimedia CH has been an official partner and sponsor of Parldigi since 2018 and will continue the support and cooperation this year.
